Incorporated in September 2003, as a non-profit 501(c)3, Apple Cider Players of Woodcliff Lake Inc. was established to create a permanent theatre group for those interested in the dramatic arts; through acting, singing, and dancing. In addition, this theater group was formed for the purpose of giving residents of Woodcliff Lake, and the surrounding communities, the opportunity to see and participate in reasonably priced live theatre.

Each year, Apple Cider Players strives to offer diverse programs utilizing the many talents of residents from various local communities. The group’s first performance in 2003, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown was well received by our audience and featured a small cast. In 2004, we built on this success by presenting History Time Henry, a captivating children's program, and then Spotlight Night, an evening of Broadway song and dance by our talented and dedicated adults and children of all ages.

In 2005, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat was performed to standing room only audiences. In 2006, Apple Cider Players presented their first non-musical play, Sylvia, a comedy by A.R. Gurney, about a dog (played by a human), who becomes a bone of contention to an empty-nester couple. To promote the show,  the group produced a full-color Dog Calendar, and auditioned canine-hopefuls to grace the pages.  The turnout was incredible, with 72 dogs from local communities lining up with their devoted owners.

During the show, there were prize raffles donated by local veterinarians, and Apple Cider Players made a donation to the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. to help abused animals. Later that year, Apple Cider Players  presented Fiddler on the Roof, followed by the Neil Simon comedy, RumorsIn May 2008, Annie played to sold-out audiences and rave reviews. Then to celebrate their 5th Anniversary and commitment to the community, the group held a fund-raiser concert, that was generously sponsored by PostNet of Montvale

What makes Apple Cider Players different from most Community Theatre Groups, is their utilization of Directors and Choreographers that are “up and coming professionals,” who may receive a small stipend for their many dedicated hours of directing and choreographing. Two years ago, the group began running Children’s Theater Workshops and Children’s Summer Camps, run by an ACP board member who is a professional performer and Director. These successful Workshops and Camps attracted culturally diverse girls and boys from many areas within Bergen County.  Most of these children never had the opportunity to learn singing, acting, dancing, and performing on-stage for an audience.  Apple Cider Players is proud to have

given them this opportunity, which increased their confidence, and opened up a whole new world for the children and their families.

In addition, the group provides entertainment for fun-filled days at Tice’s Corner Mall in Woodcliff Lake for Christmas, Halloween, and Easter.  At these events, Apple Cider Players volunteer their time to spread the word about upcoming performances and promote their mission to the community.

This November, Apple Cider Players will present Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple —Female Version starring our very funny and talented members.

Apple Cider Players advertise for auditions and performances in local papers. All officers, board members, and performers are dedicated volunteers who are committed to the group, not only through performance, but in working behind the scenes taking tickets, building sets, painting, cleaning, marketing, etc. This year, the group submitted an application to the Bergen County Arts Program and was awarded a much needed grant to help present quality performances to YOU .....our audience!  Why travel to NYC when you can enjoy quality theater in your own “backyard”?

Apple Cider Players thank you for your support!
